ChainKey, Inc. is a software developer specializing in the protection of software products against illicit use or piracy. We have considerable competitive advantage in the field of online software distribution/licensing and software copy protection, because any strong copy protection scheme which doesn't depend on hardware or platforms, will have to utilize our original "adaptive key" technology.
Our copy protection products, JChain SA Edition and its predecessors, are being used by software vendors around the world.
Also, development is under way on a project to transplant JChain products (SA Edition and Web Edition) for native applications of Windows and Mac platforms.
In addition to copy protection products for Java applications, we provide software protection services including bytecode encryption and tamper resistance.

The software industry has experienced sales of more than $300 billion every year, and its growth rate has been more than 10 percent. However, according to the study by BSA (*1), the piracy rates are almost 90% in several countries, and the amount of damage to the software industry has been more than $10 billion every year.
Chainkey aims to offer strong anti-piracy solutions for software companies of various sizes. We also aim to keep our solutions user-friendly and respectful for the privacy of end-users.

Chainkey originally started as a shareware project "Crawlbase Software" in 2000. The products included
Hounz (a web search agent), NewsShow (news web site scanning tool ), and JLicense (Java copy protection plug-in).
JLicense was chosen by several software companies in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Our customers include a major system integrator in Japan.
As JLicense has proved to be most successful, we decided to dedicate ourselves to anti-piracy solutions, that resulted in the birth of ChainKey, Inc. (incorporated in Colorado in 2002).
Currently, we are seeking investments in order to develop our business effectively and rapidly enough to meet the huge demands of the software copy protection market. We have unique and promising technologies. We believe what we need now is the financial power to boost the process.

We believe our "adaptive key" technology gives us a great competitive advantage in the field of strong anti-piracy. Alternative technologies do not offer strong copy protection which depends only on software processing.
The ongoing copy protection requires some kind of hardware keys to be strong. Some technology depends on hardware profiles. But it is not strong enough, considering that even hard disk serial numbers could be modified by simple batch files.
So, to enable strong copy protection merely by software processing, computers must be identified, and what is ultimately needed is to examine the file system structure of computers.
But any technology which uses file system structure for the identification will be covered by our patent-pending technology.

Chainkey, Inc. is operated by Kenta. After several years' experience in the software industry, he's started a project to develop and distribute softwares with unique concepts since 2000. Main product has been personalized web robots, that proved to need much more research until it's commercially practical. A by-product "JLicense" has proved to be more successful.
In 2002, he founded ChainKey, Inc. and since then, he's dedicated himself for the prevention of software piracy.
